Héctor Delgado joined Santa Rosa Junior College in November 2001 and has served as the Director of the SRJC Southwest Center. Héctor provides leadership, vision, and strategies to increase enrollment and retain credit and noncredit students in this role.
Héctor’s experience working in higher education cumulates from his positions as a financial aid administrator, manager, and Director of the SRJC Southwest Center. He began his career at California State University, Sacramento, as a math and science tutor in the College Assistance Migrant Program. Héctor earned his master’s in Counseling Psychology and Personnel Pupil Services Credential from the University of San Francisco and a bachelor’s in Kinesiology from California State University, Sacramento.
As a member of the Board of Directors with Los Cien Sonoma County Latino Leaders, Héctor has chaired the Education Committee, where he has led efforts to ensure members of the Latinx and members of the Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) communities are aware, encouraged, empowered, and engaged in pursuing higher education so they can thrive and accomplish their academic goals.
Héctor was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. His family immigrated to the United States in 1988 to pursue working opportunities in the vineyards in Healdsburg, CA. Like many farmworker families, his family faced poverty and homelessness. Héctor is a proud husband, father to four children, and grandfather of a 5-month-old grandson. He enjoys running, biking, cooking, and reading in his spare time.
